“When it rains it pours.” What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you read that aphorism? A series of unfortunate events, perhaps? A chain of calamity is what most people think of when they hear this phrase, but today I challenge you to view it through a neutral lens.
We attract situations or events that are vibrating on the same frequency we’re on. When we operate on lower vibrations, acting from a place of fear, worry, or doubt, we attract things that keep us on that wavelength. You wake up late for work, and immediately begin operating in “panic mode.” You rush to the bathroom, stubbing your toe on the way. Now you’re in a hurry AND in pain. Your frustration level rises. You burn your breakfast in your effort to multi- task. Late, in pain, and hungry. This combination is a recipe for disaster and by the time the man driving beside you tries to “cut you off” you’re at the end of your rope. You refuse to yield and your vehicles collide. You immediately think… When it rains it pours.
You’re right. Because you didn’t take a few minutes to shift your energy when your realized you overslept your day began in a harried frenzy. You continued to act in a fearful, unconscious state, so you unwittingly created events that kept that energy going. Your fear attracted like energy. Worry, anxiety, anger, and stubbornness eventually drew you to someone else operating on the same frequency (the other driver), and your combined energy explodes.
Now what if you had paused for a moment upon waking up to shift your energy? You woke up late. OK. The way you choose to handle this inconvenience will determine the rest of your day, so let’s take a few deep breaths to calm and center ourselves. In this relaxed state you decide what parts of your morning routine must be done and what parts you can skip. By eliminating a few steps you save a few minutes, making up some lost time. You play a soothing meditation on your way to work in an attempt to cultivate a sense of peace and relaxation, letting go of any desire to control the situation. To your astonishment you arrive on time! You say a silent “Thank you!” to your guides for this and walk into the building. You skipped breakfast, deciding to grab a granola bar from the vending machine and take an early lunch instead. Surprise! There’s a full breakfast spread in the break room. Another win. You take another moment of gratitude and begin a fruitful and productive work day, thinking to yourself… When it rains it pours. Only this time, it’s pouring blessings.
When it rains it pours, so choose your storm wisely. Do you want a hurricane or sun shower?
Peace & Love,
Crys
