Crystal grids are a great way to harness the energy of groups of crystals to help you achieve goals in virtually any area of your life. They are highly customizable, and can be as simple or as elaborate as you would like. In this post I will explain what a crystal grid is, how it works, and how you can design and set up your own.
WHAT: A crystal grid is a group of crystals arranged in a sacred geometric pattern; such as a circle or spiral, designed to attract specific energies. Crystal grids can be designed for almost any reason. Some of the most common are: love, abundance, peace, and protection. Although crystals are the primary tools used in crystal grids, hence the name, flowers, herbs, shells, and other items found in nature may be incorporated into a crystal grid.
HOW: Different crystals vibrate at different frequencies, so they all have unique properties. Amethyst may be used to aid healing and spiritual growth. Black tourmaline is great for blocking, reflecting, and transmuting negative energy. Rose quartz attracts love. Natural geometric patterns, which also carry different energies, provide the foundation for our own creation and manifesting. For example, the seven circles which compose the seed of life pattern represent the seven stages of creation. Seven is also correlates to the chakras, colors of the rainbow, and notes on a music scale, leading to the next divine element of a crystal grid. Numerology. The number of each stone used in a grid can be chosen to correlate with your grid’s purpose. Two is the number of cooperation and sensitivity to others, so it’s a great number to work with in a love grid. The number of abundance is eight (turn it on its side and you have the infinity symbol). Eight is excellent for prosperity grids.
DESIGN: A crystal grid typically had four distinct layers or rings. The focus stones is the center around which the rest of the grid is built. Crystal points or spheres are commonly used as focus stones, but any shape will be effective. The next ring out consist of way stones, followed by desire, then perimeter stones. The focus stone channels energy to the rest of the grid. It draws energy down, then radiates it out. Way stones help to ensure you are taking the right steps to achieve your goal, or find your way. Desire stones represent the manifestation of your desired result. These stones align with the purpose of your grid. Perimeter stones are the physical barrier between your sacred grid and outside forces. They protect your grid from any negative energy that could interfere with your intentions.
SET-UP: Once you have chosen the layout and stones for your grid you will need to set it up. I like to smudge the room that I am placing my grid in as well as all of the crystals I am using with sage or Palo Santo before I begin. I light my leaves or stick and ask Goddess to cleanse the space in preparation for this work and set my intention for the crystals and grid. Next, I place my focus stone in the center of the grid. Starting at the top of the grid, I begin placing my way stones around the focus stone in a clockwise direction. I repeat this step for the desire and perimeter stones. Once all of my stones have been placed I activate my grid, using a wand or point, but a finger will work just as well. I touch my tool to the focus stone, then the first way stone I laid. I come back to the focus stone, then go on to the next way stone. Again, I repeat this pattern for each ring, ending with the focus stone. As I activate each stone I repeat an “activation code.” It’s usually something along the lines of: I activate these stones, so that they may assist in attracting more clarity (or love, or protection, or whatever the grid’s purpose is) into my life. Just to be clear, I repeat the mantra until the circle is complete. I do not say the entire chant for each stone. This is another time in your crystal grid creation that you can incorporate numerology. The activation circle can be repeated twice for love, five times for flexibility, eight times for abundance, etc. When I am done I simply say “And so it is.” Ase and Amen work too.
DECONSTRUCTION: A crystal grid can be a permanent fixture or a temporary tool in your home or office. If you feel like your grid has served its purpose and you want to take it down you should deactivate it first. To do this, starting at the focus stone, do the activation circle in reverse. So, the next stone you would touch with your activation tool would be the last perimeter stone you placed on your grid. Move counter-clockwise until you get to the first way stone and end with the focus stone. Repeat a deactivation code as you go, such as: I thank you for bringing me clarity. I now release you and clear you for your next assignment. The crystals and the grid may be used again for another purpose in the future.
Peace, Love, & Light,
